Materials

Material US / UNS JIS Notes
Free-cutting brass C36000 C3604 Leaded. The standard grade for most turned brass fittings and valve components.
Lead-free brass — C6801 Bismuth-bearing, JIS H3250, for low-lead and lead-free requirements. Lead-free stock runs on a separate flow from leaded brass, to prevent cross-contamination. Mill certificate with every lot.
Aluminum 6061 / 6063 A6061 / A6063 Other alloys as specified on your drawing.
Free-cutting steel 12L14 / 1215 — Leaded and non-leaded free-cutting grades for high-volume turned parts.
Carbon steel 1045 S45C Medium-carbon steel for shafts and pins.
Stainless steel 303 / 304 / 316 SUS303 / SUS304 / SUS316 303 for free-machining work; 304 and 316 where corrosion resistance is required.

Measured lead content

  • C3604 brass Pb 2.65 % Mill certificate of a lot machined.
  • C6801 lead-free brass Pb 0.0053 % Mill certificate of a lot machined.
  • US drinking-water limit 0.25 % Weighted average of wetted surfaces, Safe Drinking Water Act.

Figures are from the mill certificates of lots machined, not a product certification. NSF/ANSI 372 listing, where a project requires it, is arranged by the buyer.

Inspection and finishing

Measurement
Vision measuring system. Dimensions are checked against the drawing, and the results are reported.
First article
First-article inspection report with every lot. The first piece is measured and reported before the lot runs.
Mill certificate
With every lot.
Finishing
Plating, anodizing, secondary machining and assembly — handled in one order.
Sample first-article inspection report listing each drawing dimension with its nominal value, tolerance, measured values and a pass or fail result.
Sample first-article inspection report, in the format supplied with every lot. Values are illustrative.
